A to Z Challenge Day 6

Day 6 – The Letter F

Football

It might sound strange to write about football on a family history blog, but football is a big part of my link to my father, Gordon Dinnis.  He loved Brighton & Hove Albion, and from letters he wrote home during World War 2 it is obvious the importance that the Club had in his life.  He wrote letters from Italy asking the scores of games and stating how he was looking forward to seeing a game of football again.  He took me along with him to the Goldstone Ground (the old home of the Albion) and I previously wrote a post about the first game he took me to which you can find here in my archives:

It was written about the day we played our first game at the new stadium, The Amex in Falmer.  Our afternoons and evenings at the Goldstone Ground were our Dad and daughter thing and I remember them fondly.  I still have a season ticket, and sometimes feel Dad is looking down and enjoying the games too.

About Jackie Dinnis

Welcome to my blog where I am enjoying meeting my family - past and present - one at a time. Join me as I learn who my ancestors were, where they lived, what their occupations were and what everyday life was like for them.
