Gordon and Enid – wedding anniversary

Today the 18th of June is my parents wedding anniversary.  Sadly they are no longer with us, they married in 1949.  Here is a photograph of them on their wedding day, and the front page of their wedding service book, along with an invitation to their wedding.

I was looking through their wedding album and for some reason it was as though I was seeing it for the first time.  I noticed things, and people that I hadn’t really done before, do you find that happens to you too?  I must have looked through this little album so many times, and today I noticed four photos of guests at their wedding.  Here are two of them:

wedding guests 1wedding guests 2I have no idea who these people are, whether they’re relatives or friends, if they were from my mother’s side or my father’s.  They’re arriving at the wedding so they must have cared about Mum and Dad.  I know one person I can ask, and it’s about time I paid them a visit.  I’ll let you know how I get on …

Top photo is left to right, Aunt Clara, Aunt Olive, Aunt Grace. Aunt Clara wasn’t really an Aunt, she lived in Dummer and was a close friend of the Cleeve family. Mum spoke very fondly of her. She lived in a big house and I think Mum used to go and stay with her. They are therefore from your Dad’s side of the family. Sorry, don’t know the people in the other photo, so guess they may be from your Mum’s side.

    • Sue, thank you so, so much for this! I had no idea they were some of ‘the Aunts’! I shall make a note of it immediately before I forget. It’s really nice to know they were at the wedding 🙂

  2. What a special post. What a lovely couple they were, Jackie!
