Family Support

In sad times, family always seem to pull together, and ours is no exception. In the past I have written about my cousin, Ian dying in November 1976 aged 19. Our grandmother, Annie Dinnis and her four sisters were all there to support Ian’s mother Nancy and the rest of our family. Here is an excerpt from a letter written by Annies elder sister, Rose, to Nancy, Ian’s mother a short time after his death.

rl.2.1Here is a small quote from it:

“My dear Nancy, I’ve tried each evening to write but couldn’t seem to settle to the task. I was pleased to get your letter for I had been wondering how you had been feeling after weeks of strain. I do know how much you, Bert and Susan miss Ian and will do so for a very long time, it is nice to know he was loved and liked so much, he had lived his young life to the full.”

Letters were important at the time, but I’m sure that todays communication of texts and  emails are equally helpful. God bless family xxx
