Building the Brand

Blogging 101 Day Fourteen

Today’s assignment is to extend your brand using a custom site icon, image widget or Facebook fan page. I have worked quite hard on this one, to keep a continuous logo over my online sites. I’ve played about with various images, and eventually decided to use the photo of my father (Gordon) with his brothers and sister sitting on the Palace pier at Brighton in the 1930s as my header.

I used this because it’s one of the photo’s from the past where everyone looks happy and as though they’re having a good time.

For my background image I used a photo of the pebbles on Brighton beach. I used this because Brighton and the seafront play such a big part in my family history.

I’ve used a photo of myself for my Gravatar page because it brings it into the present day.

I have trimmed down a lot of the ‘widgets’ I previously had on the sidebars. This is because the page takes longer to load if you have too many images on it, and I really only had them on there because I liked seeing the little pictures of ‘My Community’ and ‘My Favourite Blogs’ etc. I can easily put these back if anyone wants them? There seems to be no end of widgets it is possible to add.

I already have a Facebook Fan Page, which you can access via the link on the left sidebar. So, that seems to be as much as I want to change at the moment.

About Jackie Dinnis

Welcome to my blog where I am enjoying meeting my family - past and present - one at a time. Join me as I learn who my ancestors were, where they lived, what their occupations were and what everyday life was like for them.
